The Paraiso Suizo is located in Playa Negra, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, on the western side of the Nicoya Peninsula. The distance to Tamarindo Airport is about 30 miles up the drive to the International Airport in Liberia takes about one and a half hours. Via San Jose it takes around 4 hours.
There are different routes to take to reach paradise. See below for routes by plane, car and bus.
Via Liberia
If you plan to fly into the airport in Liberia you can take a taxi or rental car. The trip is about 85 kilometers. For driving directions, see details below.
Via Tamarindo
The local carrier SANSA flies several times a day to Tamarindo, which is only 30 kilometers North of Playa Negra. Their telephone numbers are 2233-0397 or 2233-3258. After the flight, the taxi ride to Playa Negra takes approximately half an hour. For driving directions, see details below.
You drive from San José first along the famous main Pan-American Highway north towards Puntarenas on the Tempisque Bridge (Puente de la Amistad). The details can be found in the Directions.
Route 1:
Friendship Bridge: (4 hr drive)
After the hamlet of Limonal, turn left after the large Shell petrol station. The road leads directly to the bridge. After the bridge, walk about 20 minutes to a T-junction, then turn right toward Nicoya. Follow the signs to Santa Cruz. At the end of Santa Cruz, after the traffic light, you go over a metal bridge and then immediately turn left onto the path to Junquillal. Follow the road 18 kilometers to another metal bridge after 200 meters take the left turn to Junquillal. After another 200 meters you have to turn right. Now you continue to the village of Paraiso, after its soccer field you turn right and after 5 km you reach the village of Playa Negra. There you drive 300 meters until you see a black chest with the name Corason on the right side of the road, here you turn ahead this one to the right. Then over two streams and 100 meters further you will see our Paraiso Suizo parking lot.
Route 2:
Via Liberia (1.5 hr drive)
At the airport exit, immediately turn right towards Santa Cruz. Before entering Santa Cruz, turn right just before the metal bridge. 18 kilometers further there is the next metal bridge, 200 meters later turn left at the next junction, about 200 meters further turn right towards Paraiso. After its soccer field you turn right and after 5 km you reach the village of Playa Negra. There you drive 300 meters further to a black chest with the name Corason on the right side of the road. Turn right in front of it. Then over two streams and 100 meters further you will see our Paraiso Suizo parking lot.
Two local carriers operate buses that will take you to Santa Cruz every day of the week, departing almost every hour: TRALAPA and ALFARO. The trip to Santa Cruz takes approximately 5 hours. The telephone numbers for ALFARO are 2222-2750 or 2223-8289 and for TRALAPA 2221-7202.
Once you get to Santa Cruz, you can take a taxicab to Playa Negra-Swiss Paradise, which will take 45 minutes. There is one TRALAPA bus that leaves San José at 2pm, and with only one change of buses in Santa Cruz, they will then take you to Playa Negra - Swiss Paradise.
